•DGrafiks began in 1989 while attending University
of Wisconsin Madison. I was studying art, art history and philosophy (aesthetics
and eastern religion). I set up a basement screenprint studio and began
designing and printing t-shirts. Art classes, namely serigraphy, offered
me my first glimpse at the print process and technical limitations of
the medium when designing.
• From 1989 - 91 I worked as a printer in one of Madisons bigger
screenprint shops and became a member of SURVIVAL GRAPHICS a local artist
co-op with similar interests in printing.
• In 1991 left Madison to pursue a glorious career as a ski bum
in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. For two years I skied and snowboarded from 8:00-3:00
everyday and worked as a screenprinter / designer at night for SIRK SHIRTS
Jackson Hole's largest print shop.
• 1994 migrated to Seattle to pursue my interests in art and design.
• POLAR GRAPHICS hired me as a sample printer responsible for setting
up and printing all of the companies newest designs that came straight
out of the art department to be tested. I worked closely with designers,
aiding them in DPI / LPI adjustments, trapping, and screen mesh choice
to achieve the hightest amount of quality from the print. As a result,
I became very proficient with the ins and outs of CMYK / 4 color process
printing.
• DGrafiks resumes again in Seattle as a freelance operation producing
t-shirt designs; one of which was so popular that it earned me a call
from Brett Favre's marketing manager.
• July of 1996 completed a certificate program at
the University of Washington in Computer Design. Shortly thereafter, I
earned a position as a designer for THE JIMI HENDRIX FAMILY designing
ads for the quarterly EXPERIENCE magazine and tour promotions for the
Annual Red House Tour and Guitar Competition.
• In 2000, I left the Hendrix Family on good terms
to pursue a career as solo designer for an up and coming dot com, TENZING
COMMUNICATIONS.
• Responsibilities at Tenzing included brand development and management,
marketing support, and UI design. All design and production was done in-house.
• 2003 victim of the economy/ corporate budget constraints
. Pursue DGrafiks as a full time gig.
• Currently I am working on both graphic design and metal projects.
